Tools for Promoting Your CV in the Digital Age (Part 2 of 2)
As I mentioned in my last post prior to this, I work with scholars interested in advancing their careers in academe through the Academii service (www.academii.net). In doing so,
we seek out tools that help provide doctoral students and scholars with
the horsepower to ensure their name can become known by colleagues in
their respective academic fields.
In this two part series, a total of 10 Digital Tools for Promoting One's
Curriculum Vitae (CV) are explored and highlighted.
Digital Tools for Enhancing and
Distributing Your CV (Part 2 of 2)

EMURSE
Like Gigtide and Visual CV, it's an online CV tool. It's at www.emurse.com
XING
More similar to LinkedIn (only not as robust and a little
more international in flavor) Xing at www.xing.com is a tool that has some good features though
it's a little limited.
RESUME BUCKET
www.Resumebucket.com is similar to resume posting sites (like
careerbuilder.com and monster.com) only it has more rich meda possibilities,
which probably makes it stronger than the other two. Even so, it's a little vanilla for me. Here are some samples: http://www.resumebucket.com/sample-resumes/Teachers/sample-teachers-resume-4.html.
RAZUME
Razume (sounds like Resume only with Raz) at www.razume.com is essentially an online resume
place except it allows people to help you collaboratively by giving critique
and advice. See it here: http://vimeo.com/1438372
ZIGGS
Ziggs is about online identity and helping alert you when
people search for you online. It can do
things like help you market yourself, create a profile and it is a type of
personal branding tool. You can discuss
things with others, get referrals from your references and look for open
positions. Now, for my taste, Ziggs is a
little busy-- but it's an option for some.
